Hello, Starcraft is old and uses a less common (these days) network protocol called 'IPX/SPX.' In Windows XP, this needs to be installed. You can do this following these instructions: 1. Click the 'Start' button 2. Click 'Control Panel,' then 'Network Connections' (Might just be 'Network connections, depending on how your start menu is setup) 3. Right-click on your primary network connection (since this is a laptop, you will probably want to repeat on any wireless interfaces afterwards) 4.
Click 'Install' 5. Click 'Client' (I think I'm remembering that correctly -- if not try under 'Protocol' 6. Install IPX/SPX, which should be in the list.
If at any point during the installation it asks for the Windows XP CD you should be able to tell it to look in C: Windows System32. After that, you should be able to launch Starcraft and choose the IPX/SPX option from the multiplayer menu. In Windows Vista you will need to do much the same thing. However, since I don't have (or want) Vista I needed to do a google search to find the proper process: That page references a download as well as manual instructions. I did not test the download, so be careful if you decide to try it on your Vista desktop, as it may represent a security risk. Happy fragging!
