Regards, Be h. I have the same 'embedding and linking' error when I try to open excel files in Excel 2007. I get this error at least once a month on different excel files.doesn't matter if I create them or others do. Our IT people don't give us ADMIN privileges, so I cannot do the DCOM fix described above. What I have found that works is if I add myself to the permissions on each troublesome file, then give myself full control. The file opens right up after that. I wish they'd get this bug fixed once and for all.

Excel Object Linking and Embedding. Select Microsoft Office Excel Worksheet Object from the dialogue box. On the left hand side, select Paste Link. Schoolsoft Dcc Malmo.

Steps below: 1) Right-click on the desired excel file icon 2) scroll down to Properties and left-click on it 3) Hit the Security tab in the new Properties window 4) In the 'group or user names' section, click edit. 5) Click the Add button. New window pops up 6) add yourself in the large box provided. My organization uses people's email addresses are their user name profiles, so I typed in my email address there. Then hit Check Names. If it recognizes you, it'll format the email address or user name properly. Then hit OK 7) Highlight yourself in the 'Group or user names' section, then click on Full Control in the box below it.

If you can't do full control, hopefully you can check the Modify box. Then click Ok, then OK. 8) left click on the file you are trying to open in excel and it should open up error free. At least it does for me.
